Hobby Games Flagship Club
Retail & Public Interiors
A lighting environment for a space where retail meets social interaction and play.
The Hobby Games flagship club in Moscow combines a board game store with dedicated areas for gaming sessions, gatherings and themed events.
Visitors can not only browse and purchase games but also spend time playing them. Retail displays coexist with areas for board games, role-playing games and tabletop wargames.
The particular challenge was to bring together spaces with different visual requirements within one interior. Lighting needed to support the retail display, provide comfortable conditions in gaming areas and work with the interior's vivid colours and distinctive graphic elements.
To integrate lighting for retail and gaming activities into one coherent composition.
The retail environment requires clear visibility of product packaging, labels and details across densely stocked shelves.
Gaming areas have different priorities. Illuminated tabletops, visibility of game pieces, cards and miniatures, and visual comfort during extended gaming sessions become especially important.
The lighting concept also had to take into account exposed ceiling structures, strongly coloured walls, branded graphics and the different ways in which the space is used.

Lighting for different activities
Retail Display
In the retail area, general lighting is complemented by directional illumination focused on shelving and merchandise. This combination enhances product visibility, helps distinguish items on display and supports clear visual perception in a densely furnished retail environment.
Gaming Areas
Lighting for the gaming areas is organised around tables where visitors spend extended periods of time. The combination of general and local lighting helps define functional surfaces while maintaining a coherent spatial experience. The position of luminaires in relation to tabletops and users' viewing directions is an important consideration.
Light and Interior Architecture
The exposed dark ceiling accommodates different types of lighting equipment, including linear, directional and suspended luminaires. Linear elements help structure the overall lighting composition, directional lighting addresses the merchandise displays, and pendant luminaires contribute to the definition of individual functional areas. The lighting works with the interior's contrasting finishes, graphics and furniture to support the identity of the club.
The ALLPROJECTS team developed the lighting concept, carried out lighting calculations, selected the lighting equipment and supplied the luminaires.
The lighting scheme addressed the different functions of the retail and gaming areas, the installation context provided by the exposed ceiling and the visual requirements of the activity surfaces.
Lighting equipment was selected according to its functional purpose and relationship with the interior architecture.

A unified lighting composition for retail, interaction and play.
The completed interior combines linear lighting integrated into the exposed ceiling structure, directional lighting for retail displays and suspended luminaires in the gaming areas.
Different lighting approaches help preserve the distinct functions of the store and club without visually fragmenting the overall space.
Light complements the expressive Hobby Games colour palette, supports navigation through the product-filled interior and helps define areas for gaming activities.
